Unit 35: Task 1: P1

Unit 35: Task 1: P1
Scenario: You have just finished a graphic design degree and you are starting up your own business.  You have a lot of organizing to do, things you need to buy and of course clients to keep satisfied.  You are obviously still learning about graphic design and there will be techniques, technical elements, legal implications and equipment evolution to stay up to date with.
Task 1: P1: Before you can start your new business you compile a list of hardware and software you will need to run your design agency. You need to consider input and output devices when creating this list. Along with the list you need to justify each item describing what it does and why you need it.  This report will be given to the bank when you apply for your business loan.

Evaluation Report

To: The Bank.
From: The Design Agency.
Date: 13th May 2013.
Subject: A report justifying what the agency requires.

In this report I will be discussing and informing you of the hardware and software that is required to run my design agency. I will be familiarize you of the various devices I will be acquiring in order to have a well-constructed and prosperous agency that will thrive for success. This attestation will allow you to visualize the various inputs and outputs and there functions as well as the cost and there purpose as to why they are deeply compulsory to make this business a success. Below contains each of the required elements I require:
Hardware:
An Optical drive – An optical drive is a disc drive which is capable of writing and viewing data from a compatible disc. These read disc so they are of extreme importance for my graphic design industry. Not only does an optical drive read discs, if it happens to be RW re-writable we are then capable of creating various formats of data and a product that is adequate for the customer.  To be able to access certain viewing utensils through an optical drive is key and can be highly useful. This can be purchased for under £30.00 at Ebuyer.com they have good reviews and high quality products.
Printer - A printer is an output device that connects to a computer/laptop or can be wireless which allows documents to be sent from a device, be printed or scanned through. You can also make photocopies of certain documents. The industry would value from this as they help with documentation and are easy to access and can also be Eco friendly due to having settings that allow you to use less ink making it more economically friendly and you can use recycled paper so that it is good for the environment. This can be purchased at a reasonable price of £25.00 and will be productive and help develop and provide various documents rather than relying on online storage because after so much data usage it begins to cost money.
Graphics card – It is a circuit board that displays and controls the output onto your computer screen. This also helps with graphic design as if we didn't use this then we will be unable to display animation and any other images onto the monitor. You can purchase this for below £20.00.
Laptop/Computer – Keyboard – Mouse – The basics required to be capable of completing anything these are required. A good quality slim-book laptop can be purchased for £299.99 no mouse required but can be purchased if necessary. A wireless keyboard and mouse due to the nature of the work as it requires the freedom to move around freely to work in a better manageable environment.
Memory Card – A memory card is a circuit board that is inserted into the motherboard that represents how much memory that the computer or laptop can withstand which store additional information. This is useful as I need to store important information and files that are related to graphics design.
Monitor – An important piece of the computers structure as without be able to see the information you are unable to complete any tasks as nothing will be displayed without a monitor. Known as a device for observing things either on the web or on a computer in general. £64.26 for a good quality monitor that will display work efficiently.
RAM – (random-access memory) common computer memory that is used to perform certain tasks on the programs within a computer, it is easily accessible and allows information to be stored.
Camera / Webcam – To record and access visual images as either a film / movie or through a video. Also a webcam that is connected to the internet so that internet viewers can see certain things.
Video + Sound card - allows the use of audio components for multimedia applications and what is displayed on the screen. A basic sound card can be bought for roughly £7.00 but it depends on the other components and brand type.
LAN card – Allows you to access the internet £8.99.
CPU unit – (central processing unit) they do all the data processing , which is the central part of a computer that slots into the motherboard and usually have thermal (heat) paste as in many computer towers the fan covers the CPU unit and it’s casing so it prevents a spike in temperature. If the CPU unit is broken or has blown then the whole computer structure will be incapable of doing anything and will not even qualify to mobilize. This is usually already in the PC/Laptop so you don't need to purchase it just install. Intel Core i5 3570K 3.4GHz Socket 1155 6MB- helps with gaming £183.88.
Motherboard – An enhanced circuit than withholds the principal components of a microcomputer or other device, with connectors into which other circuit boards can be slotted. The CPU unit, RAM, Memory card and sound + video cards will only do their job if they are connected to the motherboard. This is a crucial component for a computer to work.
The Software:-
Microsoft Office= £219.99 The business and Home edition that allows you to make presentable documents it also allows you to use sky storage online. This also allows me to document various bills and other valued records that allow you to visualize how the agency is progressing and expanding for the future.
Adobe Photoshop= £17.58 per month for Photoshop CS6. It helps you create original artwork, do graphics for websites, correct flaws and other creative activities.
Macromedia Fireworks= £211 create beautiful designs for websites and mobile apps in a snap, without coding. Deliver vector and bitmap images, mock-ups 3D graphics, and it is required for our agency to produce the products desired by customers and valued investors.
Macromedia Dreamweaver= £299.95 allows you to make cutting-edge web designs and mobile apps which may appeal to specific customers in order to then expand the variety of work that is being produced. Allows us to expand our audience that we are producing for and allows us to develop our company.
Flash= £84.29
Adobe in design= £222.50
Adobe Illustrator= £193.95
Media player= This can be downloaded for free via the internet. This allows us to work with various formats and display various multi-media production to be either presented or for customers purpose.

Unit 2: task 3: M1

M1
So that applicants can have a more detailed idea of the characteristics needed for the chosen job, produce a document that can be sent out to applicants explaining why the characteristics are important for the job.

Dear Applicant,
This letter is to help advise you and give you a further understanding on the job you have applied for. Due to this job being required to teach pupils I would like to express the characteristics that are valued for this job.
Characteristics are important in the IT Industry due to:
Communication skills - if these were poor in quality or accessible it causes a huge strain on the company and those in the work place or team that the individual is part of, as being able to communicate to those involved a swell as potential customers is required to be of a very approachable character to improve business as well as confidence.
You need to have a passion toward the job - in certain cases becoming an IT related worker requires passion as you are required to help pass on the passion that you hold onto pupils who wish to achieve success and lead to an IT based future. If you have a passion and are able to show it, others notice and it sets a huge example and make others want to have that drive towards that specific subject.
Enthusiasm - This is a basic essential as if you are doing something you don't enjoy you wouldn't be able to teach effectively and efficiently to others. If you do something you don't enjoy then if you were a teacher who requires to display knowledge onto others and do not enjoy it then it effects the learners (the dependents whom futures we are all working for) and creates mixed results.
Strong work ethics + Good Tolerance - Being a teacher requires a good tolerance and if this was difficult to comprehend then it creates an issue as you have to be easily approachable to students but be firm in specific occasions so this is key for the role of a teacher.

If you are able to understand these characteristics and are easily capable to complete these then we hope to here from you.

Yours sincerely,
 Larissa Meikle

Justify the protocol transmission type you used. Ensure you find positive and negative aspects for the protocol and suggest a second way you could have sent the contact.

Talisha:
Larissa clicked on her contacts and then onto a specific contact name i.e Talisha; then held down on the contact and clicked 'send contact as V card  as Talisha has a HTC Phone, once that had appeared she clicked 'send contact_mail'. Once that's done the email showed up with the contact attached  once done filling in wanted details she sent them. Once it had been sent to Gmail it appeared with a sent email addressed to 09southt@gmail.com having the email and attached contact file, Also this was sent directly from an Iphone so at the end of the Email it mentions Sent from Larissa's Iphone.

The positive aspects for this way of sending a contact this:
It is cheaper for the user due to it being free to send via email.
You are able to send more than 1 contact at a time or individually.
Very fast in sending files in large quantities.
The negative aspect for this way of sending is:
Some people are not in possession of the device or email address.
Sometimes there are issues with the device not receiving the files.

Another way you could have sent this was by sending them directly from an email via computer to another computer so they are able to access it easier.

Unit 14: M3 + P6

What mechanisms have been put in place to prevent or control the implications described for P6? P6:-The Legal issues that involve using a mobile technology device are as follows:
1. Many people use their phones whilst they are driving, this can put points on peoples licences or much worse and cause a collision whilst on the road. (This can be sorted if the driver uses a hands free or Bluetooth)
2. Some people get there phones stolen, theft is a great issue in the legal department.
3. If your phone is stolen and you don't have a pass code or security then someone can easily delete all of your details, also you can lose all of your contacts if you don't back your phone up.
4. Also the greatest legal issue is illegal downloading as many people are able to use their phones like a computer so they can easily download anything.
These are just a few of the legal issues that are due to mobile technology.
M3
They have controlled the first issue I mentioned of texting or calling whilst inside a vehicle that is currently moving, this causes a great threat not only to those in the vehicle but to those that are near the vehicle. Many parents take the initiative to pull over in some cases to answer their phones so that they keep others as well as themselves safe. Also major companies have created built in Bluetooth into cars so that you don't have to answer and are able to talk without worry of crashing. There is also hands free headsets that are like headphones except you can interact with them and your safety is still ensured.
The issue of stolen phones has been drastically controlled as companies like Apple have an app that can help located your stolen or misplaced phone. This helps create less of an issue for legal departments.
Many new phones have pass codes and can allow their contacts to sync with Gmail and many others this way your phones information has been backed up and secured so there isn't a great threat with syncing your contacts and having a pass code.
The issue with illegal downloading is slowly being resolved by deleting and banning certain website that allow you to download illegal material. Those who oppose this are taken to court as well as fined.
These are some of the ways that mechanisms have been used to help prevent and control issue that you may face.
